a small package arrived from my father today. inside was a twenty-dollar bill, a cat collar, and a note which said, "love you. -dad". with great difficulty i was able to subdue the beast, strapping the collar around paul's neck. he sat there trying to get at the bell which jangled with each attempt he made to bite at it. giving up, he tearfully looked up at me. the tears may have just been a figment of my imagination. i reluctantly removed the collar and paul ran off to angrily tear up the newspaper surrounding the litter box. surely some sort of retribution. oh well, perhaps i'll try another day.
